I was disappointed with
Guardian of the Frontier that was shown tonight by the
Duke University Screen Society. It promised to be a contemporary Eastern European version of the classic 1972 adventure film
Deliverance, about three young college women taking a river canoe journey. I found it unconvincing and flat, and was surprised to see that it has
won some awards - maybe I missed some cultural context that would have made this more appealing. You can read my more detailed
imdb review.
